Portal terms of use
These terms apply to the ASL Caribe Access ("we") booking portal, to the on-demand interpreting QR codes and to the video calls opened from the portal. By creating an account, using a QR code or using the portal, you accept these terms and the Privacy policy.
1. This is not an emergency service
The portal and on-demand interpreting do not replace 911. If someone is in danger, call 911 first. On-demand interpreting depends on interpreter availability and internet connection, and may be delayed or unavailable.
2. What the portal offers
The portal lets you request in-person, video (VRI) and spoken-language interpreters, view bookings, contracts and invoices, and connect with an interpreter by video. A booking is a request until ASL Caribe Access confirms it. We do not guarantee that an interpreter will always be available.
3. Accounts
- ASL Caribe Access approves every account and may suspend or close it.
- Client accounts are for authorized staff of each agency or institution. By using an account, you confirm that your agency authorized you to request services and charge them to its contracts.
- You are responsible for protecting your password and for activity on your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.
4. Proper use
- Do not enter patient names, record numbers, diagnoses or any other protected health information. Use reference numbers.
- Provide accurate information (dates, location, links and on-site contact).
- Use QR codes only at the place where they are posted.
- Do not try to access other people's accounts or data, or interfere with the portal.
5. Interpreting
The interpreter conveys what the parties say. The interpreter does not give medical, legal or other advice and does not make decisions for any party. Decisions about care, the case or the service belong to the agency or provider serving the person.
6. Cancellations, rates and billing
Rates, minimums, cancellations and billing follow each client's contract or service agreement. If a contract says something different from these terms, the contract governs.
7. Electronic signature
The service sheet is signed electronically in the portal. The signer agrees to use an electronic signature and confirms the service was provided during the hours shown. The electronic signature has the same effect as a paper signature under applicable Puerto Rico law and the federal E-SIGN Act. The signature is made by agency staff, not by the patient.
8. Portal availability
We work to keep the portal running, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or internet or provider failures. The portal is provided "as is". If you cannot use it, call the help line or email us to book.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ASL Caribe Access is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses caused by portal interruptions, internet or third-party provider failures, incorrect information supplied by the user, or use of the service for an emergency. If any liability is found, it will not exceed the amount paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
10. Portal content
The name, logo, sign language videos and design of the portal belong to ASL Caribe Access. Do not copy or use them without permission.
11. Changes
We may change these terms. The current version will always be on this page with its date. If you keep using the portal after a change, you accept the new version.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and applicable federal law. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Puerto Rico.
